Участие в «войне форматов» фирмы Onkyo, известной своими высококачественными продуктами, пока служило поводом только для слухов и туманных заявлений представителей компании.
С тех пор как Onkyo присоединилась к лагерю HD DVD каких либо заметных шагов по продвижению этого формата за компанией замечено не было. Ходили слухи о выпуске HD DVD плеера, который должен был быть представлен на прошедшем CES 2007. Затем компания заявила, что рассматривает вариант поддержки обоих форматов.

Теперь, некоторые интернет-издания распространили информацию о том, что Onkyo готовит к выпуску HD DVD плеер DV-HD805, созданный на базе Toshiba HD-XA2 с несколькими заметными улучшениями (какими именно, не указывается). Источник утверждает, что новинка появится на полках магазинов этой осенью. Что ж, остается надеяться, что мы не увидим всего лишь перелицованный плеер от Toshiba по цене «хай-энд» техники Onkyo.
