Она существенно отличается от используемой в настоящее время технологии, в которой к изготовленному OLED-дисплею приклеивают стеклянное покрытие, оставляя при этом внутри специальный порошок для поглощения влаги, проникающей из атмосферы внутрь готового изделия через клеевое соединение. Приклеивание стеклянного покрытия - один из самых дорогостоящих и трудоемких этапов сборки OLED-дисплея, его проводят в вакууме или в атмосфере инертного газа. <br /><br />Новый технологический процесс использует совсем другую методику покрытия органических светоизлучающих диодов. Для их защиты применили модифицированный метод формирования пленки из газовой фазы с использованием ионных пучков. Процесс протекает при комнатной температуре, свойства самого органического излучающего материала при этом сохраняются. <br /><br />В результате на поверхности OLED образуется тонкая пленка оксинитрида кремния (SiON), которая обеспечивает надежный барьер, предотвращающий попадание воды внутрь дисплея. Для этого достаточно иметь толщину пленки 50-200 нм. <br /><br />Испытания показали надежность предложенного варианты защиты. OLED-дисплеи не изменили своих свойств при эксплуатации на открытом воздухе в течение семи месяцев (для сравнения - точно такой же дисплей вообще без покрытия утратил свои свойства менее чем через две недели). <br /><br />В ускоренных испытаниях при высокой температуре (50 градусов Цельсия) и относительной влажности 50% дисплей показал незначительные изменения в технологических характеристиках, такой же дисплей без покрытия мгновенно утратил работоспособность. <br /><br />Исследователи в настоящее время дорабатывают технологию с тем, чтобы в скором времени передать ее в массовое производство, сообщает пресс-релиз американского университета. <br />
