Аналитики не уточняют, идет ли речь о конкретной стране или обо всем мире. <br /><br />На сегодняшний день наибольшая часть фильмов распространяется посредством DVD-дисков – 97,1%. Однако в течение ближайших лет Blu-ray сделает серьезный прорыв, и к 2014 г. именно этот формат будет доминантой, заняв 59,7% всех продаж. <br /><br />Но уже через три года формат угаснет, считают эксперты. И в 2017 г. наибольшая часть фильмов будет распространяться через интернет по услуге VOD. «В течение следующих десяти лет этот сервис будет улучшаться в техническом плане. База контента будет расти. В конечном итоге пользователи просто начнут отказываться от Blu-ray». Это произойдет, в том числе, вследствие увеличения скорости соединений в домах пользователей. <br /><br />
