Intel обвиняют в нездоровой конуренции

Производители микрочипов Nvidia, AMD, Via Technologies и SiS обвиняют корпорацию Intel в том, что она намеренно скрывает спецификацию контроллера USB 3.0 для того, чтобы выпустить новые продукты с поддержкой этого стандарта раньше своих конкурентов, сообщает Engadget.

В случае если Intel не раскроет техническую информацию в ближайшее время, компании Nvidia и AMD займутся разработкой собственной спецификации контроллера, ключевого компонента, «связывающего» USB-устройство с операционной системой компьютера. Это может привести к несовместимости оборудования, выпущенного этими двумя компаниями и компанией Intel, что, в свою очередь, еще больше задержит принятие стандарта.

Intel опровергает выдвинутые в ее сторону обвинения и утверждает, что на разработку спецификации нужно время, и это не та ситуация, где стоит спешить. Выпуск спецификации запланирован Intel на вторую половину 2008 г.

В сентябре прошлого года Intel заявила о создании консорциума для разработки и продвижения нового стандарта проводной передачи данных USB 3.0. Этот стандарт, предназначенный для компьютеров и потребительской электроники, будет работать со скоростью 5 Гбит/с, что примерно в 10 раз быстрее USB 2.0. Выпуск финальной спецификации USB 3.0 ожидался в первой половине этого года.
