Поддержка HD-видео постепенно становится стандартом для телевизоров, камер и вскоре обещает добраться до мобильных телефонов. По крайней мере, к такому выводу можно прийти, если посмотреть на интерес производителей комплектующих. Крупнейшие поставщики полупроводников Broadcom, NVIDIA, Texas Instruments уже сделали заявление, что их процессоры будут справляться с обработкой HDTV. Они умеют кодировать и декодировать видео в разрешении 1280 x 720 пикселей при 30 кадрах в секунду. <br /><br />Японская Renesas Technology пошла дальше и сейчас трудится над процессором, который сможет работать с сигналом Full HD. По словам Broadcom, мобильные телефоны с подобными комплектующими появятся в продаже уже в течение следующего года. Правда, пока непонятно, каким образом разработчики сумеют справиться с проблемами питания, ведь для приёма HDTV понадобится довольно много энергии. Вероятно, для этого намерены использовать специальные аппаратные решения. <br /><br />Предполагается, что HDTV-телефоны можно подключать к телевизору, так как у них физически очень маленькие экраны. Для этих целей некоторые производители активно внедряют в свои аппараты HDMI. <br /><br />Появление HD-телефонов ожидается в 2009 году.
