Кроме того, их можно делать гибкими. К сожалению, технология имеет ряд ограничений, мешающих ее массовому внедрению, наиболее критическим из которых является недолговечность. Причина недолговечности - уязвимость для воздействия воды и кислорода, вызывающего коррозию OLED. <br /><br />Производители решили проблему за счет сложных техпроцессов герметизации, но лишь частично. Окончательное решение, похоже, удалось найти исследователям, работающим в сингапурском институте материаловедения (IMRE, Institute of Materials Research and Engineering). Созданная здесь нанопленка способна полностью защитить от влаги OLED-дисплеи и другие подобные структуры, например, панели солнечных батарей. По словам ученых, по эффективности она в 1000 превосходит любое другое решение, так что новая технология вполне может произвести революцию в микроэлектронике. <br /><br />Команда IMRE уже ведет переговоры с производителями солнечных батарей, осветительных приборов и гибких дисплеев. С несколькими компаниям подписаны соглашения, направленные на коммерциализацию разработки. <br />
