Японская компания Canon представила 120 мегапиксельный CMOS сенсор для фото/видео камер будущего. В настоящее время объем получаемых с такого сенсора изображений будет непосильным для хранения на стандартных накопителях. По размеру сенсор в 7 раз больше используемого сегодня в камере Canon EOS 1D Mark IV. Камера со 120 Мп сенсором способна делать снимки в разрешении 13280х9184 и записывать видео в формате 1080р, используя лишь 1/60 часть имеющихся пикселей.

Canon не сделала пока никаких заявлений о планах использования такого CMOS сенсора.
