Если в конце прошлого века этот штат первым в США и мире ввел жесткие ограничения на соответствие эксплуатируемых автомобилей экологическим нормативам, то в конце прошлого года Калифорния приняла законопроект регламентирующий энергопотребление ввозимых в Калифорнию телевизоров класса HDTV.<br /><br />Примеру Калифорнии в этом году последовали еще пять штатов: Мерилэнд, Массачусетс, Нью-Йорк, Вашингтон и Висконсин. Более того, в Массачусетсе и Вашингтоне под действие нового закона попадают ресиверы, DVD и Blu-ray плееры. <br /><br />Согласно законодательства штата Массчусетс:<br />Компактные аудио системы не должны потреблять в дежурном режиме более 2 ватт, при наличии  работающих в этом режиме дисплеев (типа часов) – не более 4 ватт.<br />DVD плееры не должны потреблять в дежурном режиме более 3 ватт. <br />Максимальное энергопотребление телевизоров с диагональю 58 дюймов и менеее рассчитывается по следующей формуле. P  макс. = (0,2 х площадь экрана (диагональ в квадрате) + 32) ватт, в дежурном режиме не более 1 ватта . <br />После 1 января 2013 требования еще более ужесточаются.
