Каждая из компаний заявила о разработке собственного чипа для беспроводного видеоинтерфейса в HD разрешении.<br /><br />Если заявления о начале разработки беспроводного HDMI звучали  и ранее, то в данном случае утверждается, что техническое решение уже найдено. Весь вопрос на данный момент в приемлемом для массового покупателя стоимостном воплощении беспроводной системы. Другая проблема - стандартизация в международном институте IEEE, что позволит сделать все системы абсолютно совместимыми. Рабочее название интерфейса пока WiGig или WirelessHD.<br /><br />Во всех чипах используется одинаковая несущая частота 60 ГГерц, а полоса частот 7 ГГерц обеспечит скорость видеопотока  в 1,5 Гбит/сек. Для сравнения скорость потока через Bluetooth составляет лишь 3 Мбит/сек. А, имея даже в 1 Гбит/сек, можно за 9 секунд полностью передать  с диска содержимое фильма. Напомним, что скорость передачи с Blu-ray приводов составляет около 54 Мбит/сек.
