Организация Wireless Gigabit Alliance (WiGig), целью которой является продвижение одноименной технологии беспроводной связи на частоте 60 ГГц, объявила о завершении разработки унифицированной спецификации WiGig 1.0. В числе членов альянса — компании AMD, Intel, LG Electronics, Microsoft, NEC, NVIDIA, Panasonic, Samsung Electronics и Toshiba.

Как утверждается, WiGig может обеспечить передачу данных со скоростью более чем в 10 раз превосходящей скорость, достигнутую в современных беспроводных сетях Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11n). Это, в частности, позволит подключать по беспроводному каналу дисплеи. При этом удалось сохранить обратную совместимость с устройствами Wi-Fi.

К наиболее существенным моментам спецификации WiGig 1.0 ее разработчики относят поддержку скоростей передачи до 7 Гбит/с, возможность взаимодействия на физическом уровне устройств с малым энергопотреблением и высокоскоростных устройств. Уровни адаптации протокола обеспечивают поддержку системных интерфейсов, включая используемые для подключения периферийных устройств и мониторов. Дальность надежной связи, за счет формирования луча, превышает 10 м. К другим особенностям WiGig относятся средства защиты информации и управления питанием.

Сейчас спецификацию могут изучить участники организации. В первом квартале она будет открыта для тех, кто решит использовать в своих продуктах технологию WiGig.
