Два года спустя после создания команды по борьбе с клубками межблочных кабелей в наших домашних кинотеатрах при помощи 60-гигагерцового радиосигнала и, спустя год после начала массового производства оборудования, компания SiBEAM объявила о скором появлении второго поколения процессоров WirelessHD. Но на этот раз разработчики обещают выпустить бюджетное, доступное для большинства потребителей решение, с лучшими, нежели ранее, характеристиками.

Новые чипы выполнены по 65 нм технологии, не требуют активного охлаждения и потребляют меньше энергии. Кроме того, их габариты заметно меньше. Стоит отметить, также, что новые чипы WirelessHD будут иметь встроенный HDMI-контроллер, поддерживать системы криптования HDCP и DTCP, а также позволят передавать по воздуху многоканальный звук. В прошлом году из-за дороговизны подобного решения, было не очень разумно рассматривать всерьёз такое дополнение к HD-телевизору. Если же стоимость устройств второго поколения будет заметно ниже, что, собственно, и обещают разработчики, отношение пользователей к WirelessHD может измениться.
