Устройство будет напоминать Newton MessagePad и фактически представлять собой увеличенный вариант iPod touch с 10-дюймовым экраном без кнопок на лицевой стороне, сообщает AppleInsider.<br /><br />Работа над устройством была нелегкой — проект несколько раз замораживался, ключевые характеристики и позиционирование устройства постоянно менялись. Это длилось на протяжении двух лет. В конце концов главный исполнительный директор Apple Стив Джобс (Steve Jobs) внес планшет в планы компании на 2010 г. По сообщению AppleInsider, Джобс руководил проектом, в том числе, и когда находился в отпуске. <br /><br />Сенсорное устройство будет анонсировано в 1-м квартале будущего года. Об этом изданию сообщил осведомленный источник. Предполагается, что стоимость нового гаджета будет равна средней цифре между стоимостью iPod touch и самым дешевым MacBook (то есть, около $600).<br /><br />Ранее сообщалось о заказе большой партии сенсорных дисплеев для некоего нового устройства Apple, которое пока еще не было анонсировано. По одним данным, диагональ дисплея будет составлять 10 дюймов, по другим — 9,7 дюйма. Производством дисплеев будет заниматься Wintek, а их поставки планируется начать в 3-м квартале 2009 г. <br /><br />
