Вы, наверное, помните как впечатлилось игровое сообщество, когда впервые показали работу движка Havok на примере гравитационной пушки(gravity gun) из Half-Life 2? С тех пор динамическая физика прошла достаточно долгий путь, а NVIDIA, не растерявшись, решила выдвинуть конкурента собственной разработки под названием PhysX engine. Сейчас технология PhysX поддерживается многими играми, среди них: Mass Effect, Gears of War и даже Sonic и the Secret Rings. В дополнение к пакету PhysX, NVIDIA решила расширить инструментарий для разработчиков, добавив систему APEX, которая позволит художникам создавать окружение, реализованное с учетом всех физических параметров, а также разрушаемые объекты.

Совсем недавно компания NVIDIA сообщила о драгоценном сотрудничестве с большими издательствами, что, несомненно, дает ей преимущество в разработке своих систем. Издательство Sega будет использовать обе технологии - PhysX и APEX во всех своих предстоящих играх. В дополнение к этому NVIDIA анонсировала расширенную поддержку PhysX в играх: Dark Void от студии Capcom, Terminator Salvation от WBIE, а также в грядущих Darkest of Days и U-Wars.
