Тем не менее, Sony доказала на примере PS2, что система вполне способна прожить десять лет, и при этом далеко не всеми забыта. Эд Бартон(Ed Barton) – аналитик издания Screen Digest, напомнил игрокам, что God of War II вышел на консоли вот уже как семь лет и, при этом, «очень даже неплохо смотрится в линейке игр современного поколения».<br /><br />«Переход на новую технологическую основу – это очень дорогой и травматический процесс для существующей индустрии, и для потребителей тоже» - сказал он. «Я не понимаю, почему людям не особо нравится идея любого производителя консолей о десятилетней поддержке своей платформы». Мы согласны с Бартоном. План Sony о системе на десять лет, действительно, имеет смысл, особенно, если учесть нынешнее экономическое положение. Системам последнего поколения все еще предстоит пройти долгий путь, чтобы стать доступными для масс. Разработка игр для нынешних консолей уже стала очень дорогой – если индустрия быстро перескочит на новое поколение, как вы думаете, насколько дорого это будет и какова будет стоимость консоли нового поколения для рядового потребителя?<br /><br />Запуск консоли может стоить "от 3 до 5 миллиардов долларов", а учитывая неблагоприятный экономический климат – вряд ли Sony или Microsoft захотят переходить на новое поколение консолей в скором времени. Сейчас, похоже на то, что план Sony с десятилетней PS3 не такой уж абсурдный, напротив, можно сказать, что он очень даже умный.
