Их потребляемая мощность составляет менее 25% от мощности 2,5-дюймового накопителя на жестких магнитных дисках (НЖМД) с интерфейсом SAS и скоростью вращения 15 тыс. об/мин (15 К); благодаря этому они создают минимальную тепловую нагрузку на систему кондиционирования вычислительного центра. <br /><br />Промышленные SSD от Samsung, выпускаемые с интерфейсом 2,5 дюйма, имеют более высокую производительность в пересчете на ватт потребляемой мощности, чем НЖМД 10 и 15 К. Как отмечают в Samsung, по количеству операций ввода-вывода в секунду (IOPS) на ватт мощности они в 100 раз превосходят типичный 2,5-дюймовый SAS-НМЖД 15 К; по IOPS на доллар стоимости – в 5 раз превосходят SCSI-НМЖД 10 К. Накопители стандарта SATA 3 Гбит/с обеспечивают последовательное считывание данных со скоростью 100 Мбит/с и запись со скоростью 80 Мбит/с. Начиная с ноября они доступны на мировом рынке.<br />
