При этом он подчеркнул, что сделать OLED-экран большой диагонали непросто, и это требует больших усилий. <br /><br />В настоящее время компания Sony является единственным производителем OLED-телевизоров. Жители Японии и США могут купить OLED-телевизор Sony XEL-1 с диагональю экрана 11 дюймов за 1800 и 2500 долларов соответственно. В Европе он появится в 2009 году. <br /><br />Помимо Sony выпуском OLED-экранов занимаются компании Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba, LG и другие. Но пока никто из них не представил серийную модель OLED-телевизора. <br /><br />OLED-экраны имеют ряд преимуществ перед ЖК- и плазменными панелями. Например, они более тонкие, потребляют меньше энергии и излучают свет. Последнее делает ненужной подсветку в OLED-телевизорах. Главный недостаток таких экранов - дороговизна производства. <br />
