События игры будут происходить в королевстве Boletaria, где игрок получит в свое распоряжение безымянного протагониста. Главный герой будет странствовать по «чрезвычайно открытому, небезграничному» миру. Вы вольны выбирать: спасать мир от короля, который пробудился ото сна в виде «древнего чудовища», или не спасать. Все зависит от вас.<br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2008-10/1223290699_demonssouls0011.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='RPG проект Demon&#039;s Souls для PS3: первые подробности и скриншоты' title='RPG проект Demon&#039;s Souls для PS3: первые подробности и скриншоты' /></div><br />Директор проекта Hidetaka Miyazaki, пытается заново создать в игре «атмосферу и обаяние классической RPG, но с современными, последними технологиями на руках».<br />Например, взамен традиционных ограничений по размещению и использованию предметов, игра постарается предложить вам более реалистичные ограничения с точки зрения физики: «габаритные виды оружия, например, будут задевать стены и оставлять выбоины, а освещение пространства с помощью факела в вашей руке будет обсчитываться в реальном времени». К сожалению Hidetaka Miyazaki развеял все предположения относительно появления мультиплеер режима – в игре его не будет, но взамен он предпочитает «найти способ использования Интернета для того, чтобы сделать одиночную игру более интересной и разнообразной». Вероятно, это будет игра, сочетающая в себе старую добрую RPG, с элементами геймплея, возможными только на нынешнем поколении железа. Итак, придется дождаться Tokyo Game Show, и выяснить больше подробностей о Demon's Souls.
