Тайваньский производитель компьютерных комплектующих, компания Leadtek Research представила первую в мире видеокарту с процессором SpursEngine SE1000, сообщает custompc.co.uk.

Видеокарта Leadtek WinFast PxVC1100 включает 128 МБ видеопамяти XDR на шине 1600 МГц, поддерживает HD, H.264, MPEG-2 и MPEG-4 и, как сообщают в компании, «позволяет обрабатывать видео быстрее, чем в реальном времени». Плата рассчитана на слот PCI Express x1-4 и требует дополнительного питания от такой же 4-контактной вилки, которая используется для питания 3,5-дюймового дисковода.

Процессор SpursEngine SE1000 является модификацией Cell, используемого в игровой приставке Sony PlayStation 3. Он был представлен компанией Toshiba ранее в 2008 г. и используется в ноутбуках Toshiba Qosmio G50 и F40 для обработки видео и интерполяции разрешения. Чип содержит четыре 128-битных ядра на RISC-архитектуре. Тактовая частота процессора в видеокарте Leadtek не сообщается, но в SpursEngine SE1000 она составляет 1,5 ГГц.

Видеокарта поступит в продажу в Японии до конца октября 2008 г. по цене примерно $286. Аналогичный продукт представила компания Thomson.

Процессор Cell был создан компаниями IBM, Sony и Toshiba несколько лет назад для использования в потребительской электронике.
