В рамках международной выставки Photokina 2008 в Кёльне компания Samsung Electronics объявила о выпуске первой в мире компактной цифровой камеры, оборудованной 1/2,33-дюймовым ПЗС-сенсором с разрешением 10,2 Мп и оснащённой 24-мм широкоугольным объективом с 10-кратным оптическим увеличением.

Как отмечается в опубликованном официальном пресс-релизе, модель Samsung HZ1 снабжена двойной системой стабилизации изображения (оптическая + цифровая), а также имеет функции распознавания лиц и улыбок людей в кадре, устранения эффекта "красных глаз" и автопортрета. Кроме того, новинка способна осуществлять запись видео высокой чёткости с разрешением 720p при частоте 30 кадров в секунду, причём вместе со звуком и зумом. Ещё сообщается, что аппарат получил 2,7-дюймовый TFT-дисплей с разрешением 230000 пикселей и обладает габаритами 105 х 61,4 х 36,5.

К сожалению, о других технических характеристиках камеры пока точных сведений нет, равно как и отсутствует информация о стоимости устройства и вероятных сроках начала его массовых продаж.
