<div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2008-09/1221740461_cube3_0a9aa.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Процессор в кубе' title='Процессор в кубе' /></div><br />Исследователи из Университета Рочестера (штат Нью-Йорк) при содействии Массачусетского технологического института разработали новый трехмерный процессор, работающий на тактовой частоте 1,4 ГГц и отличающийся от других разработок тесной интеграцией слоев, сообщает design-reuse.com. <br /><br />По мнению исследователей, до массового появления квантовых и так называемых оптоволоконных компьютеров пройдет еще приличное время, в течение которого будут развиваться иные технологии, в том числе трехмерные полупроводники. <br /><br />Электрические цепи в современных микросхемах располагаются в двумерной плоскости. В 3D-чипах их предлагается размещать в пространстве. В теории подобные микросхемы будут более компактными по сравнению с сегодняшними полупроводниками, оставаясь тем временем не менее и даже более эффективными. Подобный трехмерный чип, установленный в плеер iPod, может быть в 10 раз меньше существующего и во столько же раз производительнее его, говорят ученые. <br /><br />В отличие от существующих решений, в которых несколько чипов банально накладываются друг на друга и соединяются проводниками, американские инженеры пошли дальше и добились существенно более плотной взаимосвязи между слоями полупроводника. В частности, они впервые достигли полной синхронизации в работе в электропитании слоев. Таким образом, была решена главная проблема «стекинга» (наложения друг на друга) чипов — проблема работы всех слоев как единой полноценной системы. <br /><br />"Я называю его кубом, так как понятие «чип» (chip — щепка, стружка — CNews) к новому полупроводнику неприменимо, — делится профессор кафедры электрической и компьютерной техники Университета Рочестера Эби Фридман (Eby Friedman), принявший непосредственное участие в создании микросхемы. Он сравнивает наложение чипов с объединением нескольких транспортных систем. Например, транспортная система США — это один слой трехмерного полупроводника. Многослойный 3D-чип — это несколько транспортных систем США, объединенных друг с другом. Сложность, по словам профессора, заключается в объединении слоев, решающих различные задачи. Это может быть сравнимо с объединением транспортной системы США и Китая — в них разное число машин, они ездят с разной скоростью и т.д. Именно над этим в этот раз и работали ученые: они предусмотрели различную скорость работы стекируемых чипов, а также различия в их электропитании. Для этого в «кубе» были просверлены миллионы отверстий для электрической коммутации. <br /><br />По словам Фридмана, современный топологический уровень приближается к своему нижнему пределу — далее чипы будут расти в высоту. При этом закон Мура, говорящий о том, что количество транзисторов в чипе удваивается каждые два года, вероятно, перестанет работать. Трехмерные чипы позволят увеличивать количество находящихся в них транзисторов гораздо более высокими темпами. <br />
