Серебряно-цинковые батареи предназначены для потребительской электроники и характеризуются лучшими показателями, чем литиево-ионные. По данным компании, они обеспечивают увеличение времени автономной работы мобильных устройств на величину до 40% по сравнению с серийно выпускаемыми образцами литиево-ионных батарей.<br /><br />Помимо увеличенной емкости, серебряно-цинковые батареи, по словам ZPower, являются более безопасными и менее вредными для окружающей среды. Используемые в них материалы химически более стабильны, чем материалы литиево-ионных батарей, которые вызывает много проблем из-за своей склонности к перегреву и возгоранию. Более того, как утверждается, 95% материала батарей может быть переработано и использовано повторно.<br /><br />Ранее компания ZPower обещала выпустить новые батареи летом текущего года. Новым сроком выхода на рынок назван 2009 год, когда, по обещанию компании, они появятся в составе «основных ноутбуков».<br /><br />К сожалению, существующие ноутбуки не смогут работать от новых батарей. Только вновь создаваемые модели могут быть спроектированы с учетом требуемых изменений. Вместе с тем, конструкторы новых моделей могут предусмотреть питание, как от литиево-ионных батарей, так и от серебряно-цинковых, которые первое время будут предлагаться, как опция. <br />
