После того как продажи плазменных панелей значительно выросли в первом квартале, во втором на рынке образовалось затишье: рост продаж составил всего 1%. Всего за этот период было продано 3.5 миллионов устройств.

По информации от DisplaySearch, спрос на плазму в Северной Америке и Китае был невысок, однако в остальных регионах спрос на плазму, в особенности на модели класса full HD, был значительно выше. Таким образом, по сравнению с аналогичным периодом в прошлом году рост продаж телевизоров с разрешением 1080p во втором квартале составил 54%. Резкий рост спроса на модели привел к увеличению доходов продавцов на 28% по сравнению с прошлым годом и на 6% по сравнению с предыдущим кварталом.

Появление новых 46-дюймовых моделей класса full HD привело к росту продаж телевизоров с разрешением 1080p. Общий объем продаж вырос на 89% по сравнению с предыдущим кварталом и на 333% по сравнению со вторым кварталом прошлого года.

В настоящий момент плазменные панели с разрешением 1080p составляют 21% от общего объема продаж PDP.
