Sony и Samsung выпустят еще больше ЖК-панелей

Sony и Samsung укрепляют свое сотрудничество в области производства ЖК-панелей: на днях компании объявили об инвестировании 1,8 трлн. вон ($1,8 млрд.) в строительство новой линии по производству жидкокристаллических панелей в рамках совместного предприятия S-LCD. Новая линия будет построена в Южной Корее возле существующих производственных площадок. Массовый выпуск ЖК-панелей на новой линии планируется начать во II квартале 2009 г. Здесь будут производиться панели 8-го поколения с размерами заготовки 2200 x 2500 мм, сообщает The Register.

Планируется, что с новой линии ежемесячно будет выходить 60 тыс. подложек. В активе S-LCD уже есть одна линия 8-го поколения в Танджонге, которая производит 50 тыс. подложек в месяц.

Полученная с линии продукция будет разделяться между Sony и Samsung в соотношении 49% и 51% - в соответствии с долями компаний в совместном предприятии.

Новая линия позволит удовлетворить возрастающий спрос на ЖК-телевизоры. Кроме того, производство панелей на 8G-оборудовании экономически выгоднее, чем на оборудовании предыдущего поколения. Цена за дюйм панели получается ниже.
