В то время, как индустрия уже почти смирилась с победой в войне форматов Blu-ray, а титаны киноиндустрии сделали свой выбор в пользу лидера, проигравшая сторона решила в очередной раз напомнить о формате HD DVD и его наследии. Как стало известно, компании Toshiba, Microsoft и Panasonic планируют объединить свои усилия для создания еще одной альтернативы Blu-ray – формата DVD 2.0, который многое заимствует у непринятого потребителями HD DVD. Это и поддержка интерфейса HDi, и режим Super Upconversion для вывода изображения с разрешением до 960p. Также от DVD 2.0 можно ждать поддержку сетевых функций, более продвинутый механизм защиты данных от копирования.

DVD 2.0: восстание против Blu-ray


Согласно данным зарубежных информационных источников, компании Toshiba удалось сохранить статус лидера в новообразованном союзе, поэтому у разработчика может появиться возможность внедрения новых технологий при поддержке Microsoft.

Однако самым главным преимуществом DVD 2.0 считается его совместимость с обычными DVD-приводами, присутствующими сегодня практически в каждом ПК. Что же, на данном этапе DVD 2.0 выглядит привлекательно - все преимущества видео высокого разрешения, возможность работы на обычных DVD-устройствах, и, вероятно, невысокая стоимость. С нетерпением ждем вестей от разработчиков, войне форматов еще быть.
