Компания Sony, воодушевленная успехами последних разработок в области OLED технологий, а именно  созданием  OLED-панели XEL-1, собирается  вложить более 202 миллионов долларов США (или 22 миллиарда йен)  в ее усовершенствование  для производства OLED-панелей среднего и большого размеров. Sony возлагает большие надежды на эту технологию и собирается в будущем выпускать телевизоры с OLED экранами, которые обеспечивают высокое качество изображения. <br /><br />Компания начала разработки OLED технологии еще в 1994 и считает, что за ней будущее в создании дисплеев и других AV-устройств. В декабре компания представила внутреннему  рынку первый телевизор, созданный на основе технологии OLED – <a href="http://hdtv.ru/2007/11/15/sverkhtonkijj_oledtelevizor_sony_xel1_uzhe_mozhno_zakazyvat.html" >модель XEL-1</a>. <br /><br />Напомним, технологически OLED-панели могут похвастаться низким энергопотреблением – на 40% меньше, по сравнению с ЖК-панелями, меньшими физическими размерами (толщина корпуса около 3 мм) и конечно же временем отклика. Кроме того, технология OLED позволяет создавать экраны более высокого разрешения и контрастности.<br /><br />“Organic Panel”  демонстрирует картинку превосходного качества, высокий уровень контрастности и яркости изображения, естественную передачу цветов. <br /><div align="center"><img src="http://hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2008-02/1203517449_1195141773_192909.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Компания Sony инвестирует в будущие технологии OLED' title='Компания Sony инвестирует в будущие технологии OLED' /></div><br /><a href="http://hdtv.ru/2007/11/15/sverkhtonkijj_oledtelevizor_sony_xel1_uzhe_mozhno_zakazyvat.html" >Модель XEL-1</a> обладает экраном диагональю одиннадцать дюймов и  имеет разрешение 960 x 540 пикселей, а так же впечатляющий уровень контрастности в  1000000:1. Яркость составляет 600 кд/м2, энергопотребление не превышает 45 Вт. В продажу на японском рынке телевизор Sony XEL-1 поступил в декабре по цене в 200 тысяч иен (около 1750 долларов США).<br /><br />На своем заводе Sony Mobile Display Corporation's Higashiura, компания также намерена совершенствовать технологии TFT и EL в течение бюджетного года, который продлится до 31 марта 2010 года.
