Подобная технология позволяет расширить диапазон воспроизводимых оттенков цвета, если они, конечно, заложены в воспроизводимое видео, чего пока не наблюдается в маcсовом порядке. Однако, технология приобрела невиданную популярность у всех основных производителей в нынешнем году и получила у каждого фирменные обозначения. Samsung Display будет использовать усовершенствованные квантовые источники(QD) и новый материал, созданный корейской компанией Hansol Chemical. В результате Samsung собирается оптимизировать производственные процессы и удешевить себестоимость выпускаемых ЖК панелей для телевизоров сейства SUHD.<br />По сообщению  Korea IT News, сегодня 30-дюймовая пленка QD стоит примерно $100.<br />
