Некоторый туман в этом вопросе рассеял Kazuhiko Kouno, главный инженер компании Panasonic, отвечающий за развитие направления 4K Blu-Ray плееров. "4K 3D потребует очень дорогого декодера", объясняет Kouno. "Я думаю, что это будет слишком накладно в производстве".<br /><br />Обновленный стандарт Blu-ray будет поддерживать видео в форматах 4K, 4K HDR и 2K HDR, подтвердил представитель Panasonic. На стандартных телевизорах 4K диски с поддержкой HDR будут воспроизводиться  с обычными уровнями яркости. По-видимому, в формате UHD, Blu-ray контент с поддержкой расширенного динамического диапазона (HDR) рассматривается в качестве ключевого ингредиента, хотя, пока и нет официального стандарта для HDR в дисплеях. <br /><br />По неофициальным данным получается, что 4K HDR диски будут обеспечивать среднюю экранную яркость в 400 нит, а пиковую в 1000 нит. Тем не менее, говорит Kouno, формат может обеспечивать воспроизведение контента с пиковой яркостью и в 10000 нит.
