Компания будет называться "JOLED" и начнет работу в начале следующего года с акцентом на создание OLED панелей для смартфонов и планшетов, но пока не для телевизоров.<br /><br />Данное сотрудничество было давно ожидаемым, потому что Sony и Panasonic стремятся не отставать от южнокорейских конкурентов LG и Samsung в развитии OLED, хотя Sony и разработала первый в мире OLED телевизор еще в 2007 году. Сегодня, несмотря на все усилия, Sony до сих пор не в состоянии наладить массовое прибыльное производство OLED панелей, чтобы превзойти в этом корейцев. В самом деле, даже LG, а Samsung по-прежнему, не могут обеспечить достаточно высокую рентабельность производства телевизионных OLED панелей, поэтому OLED телевизоры по-прежнему намного дороже, чем ЖК модели.<br /><br />Однако, Sony и Panasonic не будут работать в одиночку. Основой новой компании станет японская Innovation Network Corporation, которая получит 70% долю совместного предприятия. Другим партнером с 20% долей в JOLED станет компания Japan Display. Таким образом, Sony и Panasonic являются второстепенными партнерами в JOLED, хотя и будут получать конечный продукт для использования.<br /><br />Sony и Panasonic прекращают совместный проект по разработке телевизионных OLED панелей и переводят персонал и другие активы в распоряжение новой компании. Возможно, именно поэтому первоначальный акцент JOLED будет на "OLED дисплеи среднего размера для использования в планшетах". Тем не менее, стоит надеяться, что в будущем эти компании попробуют использовать совместные знания и опыт, чтобы превратиться в сильного игрока на рынке телевизионных OLED панелей.
