Производственные конвейеры будут остановлены с конца ноября нынешнего года. И в это нет ничего удивительного. На январской выставке CES 2014 на выставочных стендах Samsung не было новых плазменных телевизоров. Что уже четко свидетельствовало  о намерениях компании. Samsung Display планирует переоборудовать часть производственных цехов под выпуск аккумуляторов, а остальные производственные площади будут проданы.<br /><br />Причины подобного решения очевидны, с ними столкнулись и другие производители плазменных телевизоров. Спрос на плазмы серьезно упал, в сравнении с ЖК телевизорами. Выручка от продаж плазм в последние месяцы не оправдывает серьезные вложения, необходимые для разработки новых моделей, а также для обслуживания производственных линий. <br /><br />Кроме того, сегодня наступает время Ultra HD разрешения и у плазменной технологии нет в этом отношении будущего. А есть много проблем, связанных с разработкой панелей повышенного разрешения. Уменьшить размер плазменных ячеек достаточно сложная задача. Она может потребовать серьезных вложений, чтобы создать полный модельный ряд с разными размерами экранов. Однако, ввиду низкого спроса на плазмы эти траты становятся бессмысленными.<br /><br />С уходом Samsung с плазменного рынка, единственной компанией поддерживающей плазму остается LG, насколько долго - покажет время.  Плазменные телевизоры LG всегда были далеки по исполнению от лучших моделей Samsung и Panasonic. У LG нет сегодня ни моделей плазм высокого класса, ни оптимальных по соотношению цена / качество. <br />Таким образом, вслед за Pioneer и Panasonic последовал Samsung, что практически закрывает эру плазменных телевизоров.
