Дисплеи на основе таких модулей будут отличаться ультра-низким энергопотреблением, что делает их весьма пригодными для носимых устройств. Кроме того, недавно разработанный рассеивающий слой способствует воспроизведению ярких изображений на отражающем дисплее. <br /><br /><div align="center"><!--dle_image_begin:http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2014-01/1389632036_japan-display2.jpg|--><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2014-01/1389632036_japan-display2.jpg" alt="Japan Display начинает выпуск светоотражающих ЖК модулей с памятью" title="Japan Display начинает выпуск светоотражающих ЖК модулей с памятью"  /><!--dle_image_end--></div><br /><br />Новый ЖК дисплей не требует подсветки, так как использует вместо нее отражение падающего света. За счет этого удается добиться существенно более низкого энергопотребления, примерно 80% от показателей обычного ЖК модуля. Кроме того, структура MIP позволяет сохранять картинку на экране в статическом режиме, за счет встроенных в каждый субпиксель ячеек памяти. Новая рассеивающая поверхность оптимизирует оптические параметры панели и позволяет производить дисплеи с поверхностью напоминающей бумагу.
