Quested сказал: "Мы не можем использовать деньги телезрителей для создания новых услуг, которые могут оказаться недоступными для некоторых из них ".<br /><br />Справедливости ради надо сказать, что ранее было достаточно комментариев на форумах о расходах BBC на съемки 3D программ, многие считают это пустой тратой денег, когда по-прежнему очень мало телезрителей, которые имеют 3D HDTV в доме. Тем не менее, 3D программы передаются по существующим телеканалами, тогда как  UHD (4K) это уже особый случай.<br /><br />BBC недавно представила свой новый Iplayer, который будет поддерживать потоковое Ultra HD видео. Iplayer BBC будет технически доступен при наличии Ultra HD приемника и декодера. Quested также подтвердил, что для сжатия видеосигналов будет использован кодек HEVC совместно со стандартом ITU-R BT.2020 и несколькими новыми стандартами  (почти готовыми к публикации) SMPTE.  <br /><br />BSkyB, BBC и Sony уже экспериментировали со съемками  и передачей спортивных 4K программ. А телекомпании SES удалось выжать разрешение 3840 &#215; 2160 из сигнала в 20 Мбит/с, в результате планируется запуск тестового круглосуточного телеканала.
