Горы пластикового хлама стремительно покрывают поверхность планеты. <br /><br />Японские компании Sharp и Kansai Recycling Systems совместно разработали технологию утилизации, которая восстанавливает до первоначального состояния свойства пластиковых материалов, использовавшихся ранее в корпусах телевизоров.<br /><br />Пластиковые корпуса плоскопанельных телевизоров содержат смесь поликарбоната и акрилонитрил-бутадиен-стирола, который имеет высокую жесткость и высокую эффективность против воздействия пламени. Однако свойства такого пластика ухудшаются после продолжительного использования, что затрудняет его восстановление в случае применения обычных технологий переработки. Новая технология восстанавливает ударопрочность  и устойчивость на возгорание за счет специальной добавки после регенерации и измельчения пластика.<br /><br />Новая технология регенерации пластика используется на заводе  Kansai с мая 2013 года. Sharp уже начал использовать переработанный полипропилен и полистирол во многих стиральных машинах, холодильниках и кондиционерах компании.
