Прежняя система Ambilight состояла из устанавливаемых на задней панели телевизора светодиодов, свечение которых управлялось в соответствии с характером изображения на экране. Концепция нового поколения технологии включает интеграцию с системой управления свечением других источников света в помещении, для синхронной работы и воплощения оригинального световизуального дизайна. <br /><br />Новая система подсветки Philips включает четырех сторонние источники Ambilight на задней панели телевизора и  светодиодные источники света Philips Hue, которые устанавливаются в любом месте помещения и управляются либо по предустановленному алгоритму, либо с помощью мобильного устройств на базе ОС Android и iOS.<br /><br />Система Philips Ambilight + Hue может быть синхронизирована с телевизором и воспроизводить свет в цветовой тональности на экране телевизора. Либо можно установить постоянную засветку, которая дает бело-лунный или холодный голубой тон.<br /><br />Эта система подсветки окружающего пространства оптимально подходит для телевизоров с четырехсторонней тыльной подсветкой Philips Ambilight 4XL,  но также может подключаться и к более ранним версиям телевизоров Philips, начиная с 2011 года.
