Компактные корпуса телевизоров серии X8 получились тонкими и стройными. <br /><br />В этих более доступных для массового покупателя Ultra HD телевизорах используется активная 3D технология с очками затворного типа. Телевизоры Sony Bravia X8 будут оснащены интерфейсом HDMI 2.0. Новая серия обладает всеми функциями, присущими серии X9, в том числе используется технология Triluminos и видеообработка X-Reality Pro, а также имеется интеллектуальный доступ к удаленным сервисам и всем сопутствующим услугам, поддерживаются мультимедийные возможности (в том числе DLNA, NFC и Wi-Fi Miracast).<br /><br />Выпуск серии X8 позволяет Sony вести более агрессивную ценовую политику, но плохая новость в том (она не афишировалась в Берлине), что эти новые модели будут продаваться пока только в США, где они появятся с октября по цене $3499 за 55-дюймовую модель и $4999 за 65-дюймовую. Есть неподтвержденные сообщения и о том, что они будут  продаваться и России, но не в Европе.
