Недавняя опытная телетрансляция европейского спутникового оператора позволяет об этом задумываться.<br /> <br />SES продемонстрировали возможность передавать видеосигналы в разрешении Ultra HD со спутника Astra. То же самое SES делала и в прошлом году. Но разница в том, что тогда они использовали формат кодирования MPEG-4 AVC (H.264). В этом году использовался новый более эффективный кодек HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) на основе нового стандарта H.265, с повышенной  до 50% эффективностью сжатия сигнала при сохранении качества. <br /><br /><div align="center"><!--dle_image_begin:http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2013-04/1366786153_ses2.jpg|--><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2013-04/1366786153_ses2.jpg" alt="Ultra HD становится ближе" title="Ultra HD становится ближе"  /><!--dle_image_end--></div><br /><br />Видеосигналы Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 пикселей) передавались в телевизионном спутниковом формате DVB-S2, при этом требовалась пропускная способность 20 Мбит/с. Аппаратное и программное обеспечение предоставила американская компания Broadcom, которая уже разработала для создания новых телевизионных систем программный декодер ProMedia Xpress Harmonic и новую микросхему кодека Broadcom BCM7445.<br /><br />Однако, в настоящее время SES не планирует широкой коммерциализации этого решения. Данный эксперимент считается первым шагом для подготовки внедрения систем Ultra HD 4K в существующие технологические ТВ платформы.
