Andy Quested, специалист по технологиям компании BBC сказал на саммите "Future TV» в Лондоне, что зрители уделяют все меньше и меньше внимания просмотру программ в формате 3D. Каждый раз новое 3D шоу имеет все меньший успех у зрителей.<br /><br />Комментарии Quested последовали после двухлетнего испытания 3D на BBC и включают в себя выводы по рейтингу популярности таких программ на ВВС как Strictly Come Dancing , Прогулки с динозаврами (Walking with Dinosaurs) и комедийное шоу Mr Stink, а также открытия в прошлом году Олимпийских игр.<br />Новость вызывает тем большее разочарованием, учитывая, что потенциальная аудитория для 3D в Великобритании значительно расширилась, до 1,5 миллионов домовладений в течение последних двух лет.<br /><br />Quested сказал, что в то время как впечатляющую церемонию открытия Олимпиады наблюдали около 50 процентов владельцев 3D телевизоров, последующие транслировавшиеся в 3D события набрали в среднем всего 4000 зрителей. «Я не думаю, что мы увидим 3D канал на BBC», добавил Quested.<br />Quested не разделяет полного пессимизма по поводу развития 3D и считает, что будущее за автостереоскопическими, безочковыми дисплеями.
