Это не первая попытка монополиста на рынке компьютерных супер процессоров отвоевать себе нишу в более специфичной сфере мультимедийных решений.<br /><br />На этот раз компания не просто предлагает другим производителям новые чипы на базе своего уже давно известного мобильного процессора Atom, но и собирается запустить собственный потоковый видеосервис, где будет активно использовать и обкатывать фирменные разработки для потоковой передачи и приема видео.<br /><br />Эта система, представленная как Intel Media Server Reference Design, будет включать  двухъядерный процессор Atom CE5300, в комплекте с технологией HyperThreading и виртуализации, графическое  кодирование 3D/2D, аппаратный декодер H.264, поддержку европейских стандартов эфирного и кабельного телевидения DBV-T2/T/C .
