С МКС впервые передана научная информация по лазерному каналу связи. Ранее информация, в том числе фотоснимки, передавались с МКС на Землю по каналам радиосвязи.<br /><br />«Информация передавалась через атмосферу Земли в дуплексном режиме со скоростью 125 Мбит/с от бортового лазерного терминала и 3 Мбит/с от наземного лазерного терминала. В состав архива данных рабочей информации, подготовленной экипажем МКС, входили снимки Земли из космоса и телеметрия. Архив данных объемом 400 Мбайт передан полностью и без ошибок». <br /><br />«Работы проводятся в рамках космического эксперимента «Система лазерной связи» по передаче информации по лазерному каналу между МКС и Станцией оптических наблюдений «Архыз» на Северном Кавказе Научно-производственной корпорации «Системы прецизионного приборостроения». Аппаратура лазерной связи создана ОАО «НПК «СПП» совместно с РКК «Энергия» под руководством Роскосмоса.»<br /><br />Полученные результаты позволяют перейти к практическому внедрению высокоскоростных систем передачи информации. Лазерные линии связи при меньших массогабаритных параметрах бортовой аппаратуры потенциально могут обеспечивать исключительно высокую скорость информационного потока – до десятков гигабит в секунду.
