Первый фильм трилогии «Хоббит, или Туда и обратно» уже начинает экспансию по кинотеатрам мира. <br /><br />Джексон отмечает, что продолжения Хоббит были сняты с помощью цифровых камер RED Epic в формате 3D IMAX, с частотой 48 кадров в секунду, в ультра высоком разрешении 5K (5120x2700). Традиционно, голливудские фильмы снимались с частотой 24 кадра в секунду (к/с). Стандартные 3D фильмы снимаются с частотой 48 к/с (24 изображения в секунду для каждого глаза). Хоббит сделан с частотой 48 к/с в версии 2D. 3D-версия использует 96 к/с, по 48 к/с для каждого глаза. <br />
