MPEG также упомянула о подготовке отдельного проекта для сжатия 3D видео. <br /><br />Стандарт H.261 появился в начале 90-х годов прошлого столетия, затем был H.262 в 1994 году, в 1996 году – H.263 и H. 264 в 2003 году. Появления H.265 HEVC стоит ждать в начале следующего года. Компания Qalсomm уже проводила <a href="http://www.hdtv.ru/news/industry/11759-n-265-novaya-tehnologiya-videoszhatiya-v-dva-raza-effektivnee.html" >сравнительное видеотестирование</a> планшетников на базе Android с встроенными в двух ядерный процессор Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 видеокодеками H.264 и H.265.
