Несмотря на оптимизм руководства компании, сводный баланс по результатам деятельности Sony в завершившемся квартале опять показал убытки. Пусть они и не такие большие, как у Sharp, но потери Sony в $ 312 миллионов сопоставимы с прибылями LG за этот период. Однако компания по прежнему планирует реализовать стратегию реформ нового исполнительного директора Каз Хираи и получить $ 1,6 млрд. прибыли к концу марта 2013.

Хотя в целом, продажи Sony в завершившемся квартале выросли до колоссальных $ 19,2 млрд. Падение продаж игровых приставок PSP и PS3 были лишь частично компенсированы за счет предложения новой PS Vita. Лучше обстоят дела в подразделении видео и фотокамер, в результате чего прибыль в размере $ 160 миллионов. Подразделение кино и телепродуктов зафиксировало убыток в $ 62 млн. Хотя, они получены в основном за счет затрат на маркетинг и провала продаж своей медиа продукции в Индии. Телевизоры пока не дают прибыли.
