Трансляция будет вестись на 35 телевизионном канале, куда теперь будут втиснуты 8 ТВ каналов и 3 радиостанции, что позволит государственным и коммерческим структурам в будущем заработать очень немалые деньги за счет освобождения радиочастот используемых сейчас для передачи вышеупомянутых телеканалов. Эти восемь каналов входят в единый бесплатно предоставляемый россиянам пакет, т. н. мультиплекс. Позднее будут сформированы дополнительные, уже коммерчески распространяемые пакеты-мультиплексы.<br />А сегодня бесплатно можно принимать в стандарте DVB-T2: Первый канал, Россия +региональная ГТРК, Вести 24, Культура, Карусель, ТРК-5, НТВ, Спорт и 3 радиоканала (Радио России, Маяк, Вести ФМ). <br /><br />В Ленинградской области вещание пока будет вестись в DVB-T и переводиться в DVB-T2 по мере готовности телепередающего оборудования. <br /><br />Вещание в новом формате дает много преимуществ телевещателям и  дополнительных сервисов телезрителям. Единственным неудобством будет замена телеприставки для приема с DVB-T на DVB-T2, для тех, кто поторопился в стремлении к достижению цифрового качества.<br />
