Компания Adobe нынешний владелец технологии Flash объявила об окончании поддержки устройств на базе операционной системы Android, к которым относится и нынешнее поколение смарт телевизоров. Adobe отказывается от развития флэш практически на всех платформах, кроме персональных компьютеров. Это означает, что флэш не будет также на смартфонах, планшетах, Blu-ray плеерах.

А разработчиками приложений и видеороликов с применением элементов анимации для показа на экранах телевизоров Adobe рекомендует использовать платформу Adobe AIR. С помощью Adobe AIR разработчики приложений могут реализовать интерактивные функции, видео и многое другое в телевизионных приложениях.

Adobe не раскрывает секрета, почему они решили отказаться от повсеместного развития флэш. Известно однако, что Apple была большим противником Flash и отказалась поддержать ее на своих iPhone's и iPads, возможно это сыграло какую то роль в решении Adobe.

LG уже заявила о переходе на Adobe AIR в своих смарт телевизорах.
