С конца прошлого года в рамках этого проекта Google предоставила в США 50 тысячам абонентов оптоволоконный канал со скоростью доступа до  1 Гбит/c.<br /><br />Эта инициатива будет полезна компании для распространения продвигаемого, несмотря на сопротивление провайдеров кабельного ТВ, проекта Google TV через интернет, а абонентам даст более быстрый и дешевый доступ во всемирную сеть. Хотя в Европе и есть очень развитые в отношении доступности интернета страны, но и там есть возможности для конкуренции за счет повышенного уровня сервиса.<br /><br />Российским же пользователям интернета и телезрителям остается лишь надеяться, что Google допустят и в Россию со своими оптоволоконными сетями.
