Так решила HDMI Licensing, LLC,  имеющая отчисления от 4 до 15 центов с каждого продаваемого в мире кабеля HDMI.  HDMI Licensing не только собирает отчисления, но и следит за соблюдением стандартов производства.<br /><br />Кабели-переходники Mini DisplayPort – HDMI не соответствуют требованиям стандарта, поэтому не могут, по утверждению правообладателя интерфейса HDMI, тестироваться и лицензироваться. Одно из несоответствий заключается в том, что по спецификации HDMI на обоих концах кабеля должны быть разъемы одинакового типа (или обе розетки (мамы), или обе вилки (папы)).<br /><br />Компания Apple использует в своих изделиях исключительно интерфейс DisplayPort, который имеет небольшие преимущества над HDMI и не требует лицензионных отчислений, так как разработан некоммерческой организацией VESA (Video Electronics Standard Association).<br /><br />В то же время разрешено производство переходников Mini DisplayPort – HDMI, для использования которых дополнительно требуется стандартный HDMI кабель.
