Это уже вторая модернизация жидкокристаллической модели  с прямой LED подсветкой и нестандартным для телевизоров соотношением сторон экрана 21:9. <br /><br />Впервые представленный в 2009 году необычный телевизор Philips с киноформатным экраном в прошлом году был дополнен 3D технологией с активными 3D очками. Эта модель стала именоваться  Cinema 21:9 Platinum. Теперь, как и подобает телевизору кинотеатрального типа, Philips Cinema Gold перешел на используемую в городских кинотеатрах технологию с недорогими 3D очками пассивного типа. Компания надеется, что это позволит собрать у домашних телеэкранов большую аудиторию еще и потому, что такие очки практически ни у кого не вызывают дискомфортных ощущений. У LG подобная пассивная 3D технология имеет маркетинговое название Cinema 3D.<br /><br />Новые телевизоры Philips Cinema 21:9 Gold будут относиться к типу Smart TV и оснащаться всеми соответствующими возможностями для просмотра потовых медиафайлов из интернет и домашней сети, а также позволят записывать видео с телевизора через порт USB.<br /><br />Точная дата начала продаж и рекомендованная стоимость телевизоров Philips Cinema 21:9 Gold пока неизвестны.
