В 2009 г. в странах Европы, Америки и Японии будет продано 100 млн лазерных дисков формата Blu-ray. При этом основным рынком станет США, сообщает techradar.com со ссылкой на результаты исследования Futuresource Consulting.

По мнению аналитиков, способствует этому снижение цен как на телевизоры высокой четкости, так и на проигрыватели Blu-ray-дисков. При этом в США формат уже прошел «проверку на прочность» и проникает в основные массы. «Сейчас здесь пользуются Blu-ray не только продвинутые пользователи. Формат начинает пользоваться спросом у основной части населения», - говорят аналитики. В 2008 г. в Штатах было продано 24 млн дисков формата Blu-ray, в 4 раза больше по сравнению с годом ранее. Ожидается, что в 2009 г. жители США купят 80 млн дисков.

В Западной Европе крупнейшим рынком сбыта является Британия. В 2008 г. в этой стране было продано 3,5 млн оптических носителей высокой четкости, 40% от всего числа дисков, проданных в данном европейском регионе. По словам экспертов, к 2012 г. половина дисков, продаваемых в США, будет формата Blu-ray, в Европе они составят 35% продаж.
