Cтудия Disney заявила, что намеревается включить опцию BD-Live во все фильмы на Blu-ray, начиная с релиза мультипликационного фильма “Sleeping Beauty” («Спящая карсавица»), который состоится в октябре.

После длительного перерыва, студия Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment анонсировала Blu-ray релиз мультипликационного фильма “Sleeping Beauty” с сервисом BD-Live и подчеркнула тот факт, что считает одним из приоритетов развития компании является использование технологии интерактивных игр в интернете. Президент студии Боб Чапек (Bob Chapek) заявил, что это очень важный шаг, и каждый последующий фильм студии будет оснащен сервисом BD-Live. Что, в свою очередь, выведет студию на совершенно новый уровень.

В планах студии оснастить сервисом BD-Live все будущие фильмы студии Walt Disney и Pixar, включая релиз Pixar фильма “Wall E” на Blu-ray, запланированный на последний квартал года.

Disney не будет включать контент таких своих партнеров как ABC, Touchstone и Miramax. Студия Disney также планирует развивать маркетинговую программу, рекламирующую преимущества технологии BD-Live и помогающую понять ценность этой технологии. Боб Чапек также сообщил, что демо-версии BD-Live сервиса будут доступны повсеместно. «Мы будем говорить о преимуществах BD-Live технологии, а не просто о формате Blu-ray, как таковом».
