SanDisk увеличивает емкость флэш-накопителей

Корпорация SanDisk приступила к массовому производству микросхем флэш-памяти с использованием 32- и 43-нм технологии. Новые микросхемы состоят из так называемых ячеек X3 и X4, каждая из которых позволяет хранить в себе до трех и – соответственно – четырех бит данных. В результате емкость чипа достигает 32 или 64 Гбит. Это вдвое больше, чем могут предложить современные чипы флэш-памяти, утверждает разработчик.

Для того чтобы компьютер или электронное устройство могли взаимодействовать с X3- и X4-ячейками, был создан новый микроконтроллер, который помещается в накопитель информации.

Технология X3 позволяет создавать чипы памяти емкостью до 32 Гбит (4 ГБ). Благодаря чему возможно создание microSD-карт объемом до 32 ГБ. Технология X4 позволяет делать чипы емкостью до 64 Гбит (8 ГБ) и SD-карты емкостью 64 ГБ. Оба продукта могут использоваться в MP3-плеерах, цифровых камерах, телефонах и другой электронике. SanDisk планирует начать выпуск таких карт во II квартале 2009 г. О том, будет ли использоваться новая разработка в SSD-накопителях, не сообщается.
