Под брендом RealSSD производитель продвигает продукты, ориентированные как для корпоративного сектора, так и для применения в ноутбуках. Модели из серии P200, ориентированные на применение в корпоративных приложениях, построены на базе флэш-памяти с одноуровневыми ячейками (single-level cell, SLC), тогда как в более доступных по цене устройствах из серии C200 используется флэш-память с многоуровневыми ячейками (multi-level cell, MLC). В линейке C200 будут предлагаться накопители с форм-фактором 2,5" и 1,8", с доступным выбором 1,8" моделей емкостью от 32 до 128 Гб. <br /><br />Хотя твердотельные накопители на базе SLC флэш-памяти отличаются большей надежностью, применение флэш-памяти с MLC-ячейками позволяет получать менее дорогие устройства с большей емкостью. Поэтому, по мнению Micron, в скором будущем SSD-накопители второго типа полностью вытеснят модели с SLC из сегмента пользовательских устройств. Комментируя вопросы надежности, представители Micron, Intel, Samsung и других производителей продолжают настаивать на том, что характеристики SSD вполне сопоставимы с показателями традиционных жестких дисков. <br /><br />"Деградация SSD происходит постепенно, и мы можем предсказать оставшийся ресурс накопителя на основе информации о его использовании" – утверждает Дин Кляйн (Dean Klein), вице-президент Micron по развитию рынка памяти. "Типичный чип NAND MLC флэш-памяти способен обеспечить десятки тысяч циклов чтения-записи, тогда как возможности NAND SLC характеризуются сотнями тысяч циклов. Типичный пользователь ноутбука ежедневно записывает от 2 до 4 Гб информации. Даже если рассчитывать на 40-60 Гб в день, по-прежнему ресурс MLC в 10 тыс. циклов чтения-записи не будет востребован полностью на протяжении пяти лет" – сказал Кляйн. <br /><br />В отличие от многих выпущенных до сих пор SSD-накопителей, модели из линейки C200 будут оснащаться интерфейсом SATA, более производительным по сравнению с PATA. Заявленная скорость чтения для C200 – до 250 Мб/с, записи – 100 Мб/с. Рассказывая о линейке P200, Micron отмечает субмиллисекудный уровень латентности, по сравнению с примерно 8 мс для жестких дисков. При этом производитель утверждает, что P200 потребляют вдесятеро меньше мощности, чем типичные жесткие диски, задействованные в ЦОД – 2,5 Вт в активном состоянии, и 0,3 Вт в режиме ожидания, при этом практически не требуя охлаждения. <br />
